Dr. Trout received her undergraduate degree from Johns Hopkins University and her M.D. from Albert Einstein College of Medicine. From 1990 to 1996 she completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology and a fellowship in reproductive endocrinology at UMDNJ - Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick, New Jersey, where she remained on full-time faculty until 2001. She is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology as well as reproductive endocrinology. She is the author of numerous publications in the field of reproductive endocrinology. She also has extensive experience in the surgical and medical management of infertility and in vitro fertilization.

In 2002, Dr. Trout moved to Denver from Somerset, New Jersey where she worked at one of the largest IVF facilities in the nation, Reproductive Medicine Associates of New Jersey. Since moving, she has come to value the benefits of a smaller, more personal office like CRE. Having undergone multiple fertility treatments herself, including 2 IVF cycles, in her own struggle to conceive; Dr. Trout has a unique understanding of what her patients are experiencing. She brings that knowledge and experience to every encounter with patients. She works hard to avoid unnecessary treatments or tests, and tries to give an honest account of what someone is likely to experience with a particular procedure or medication. She believes in giving couples the information and guidance they need to choose a treatment plan that is right for their needs and desires.
