"She's our miracle," explained Louise. "For me, being pregnant was awesome and parenthood is even more wonderful than we could've ever imagined."
Like many couples who first start trying to have children, Louise and Carl thought that becoming pregnant would not be a problem. But as time passed and a different set of friends became pregnant each month, they became increasingly sad and frustrated. They tried, however, to maintain their hope and senses of humor.
In December of 1998, they had their first meeting at CRE with Dr. Sam Alexander. "We immediately had a lot of confidence in Dr. Alexander," said Louise. "While he's extremely knowledgeable and ethical, he's also calming and reassuring. He always respected our decisions during treatment."
A year later and after one round of in vitro and plenty of prayer, Louise and Carl's little girl was born. And according to Louise, "she brings us more love than we ever thought possible."
